Custom-designed ruby and sapphire halo ring built at Corinne Jewelers in Toms River, NJ

More and more people are looking for jewelry beyond the ordinary — pieces with a story, pieces that hold meaning, pieces that are as one-of-a-kind as the person wearing them. That's what custom design at Corinne Jewelers is for. Whether you're dreaming up an engagement ring, restyling a family heirloom, or building a piece around a stone you already love, our design team sits down with you, sketches it out, brings it to life in CAD, and builds it in-house. From idea to finished piece, it all happens under one roof.

"You're like no other. Your jewelry should be too."

Built on three generations of expertise

Custom work at Corinne is a team craft. Our design team takes the time to understand what you're after — the style, the story, the budget, the deadline. Our designers translate that into a CAD render you can see and approve before a single piece of metal is cut. Our in-house bench jewelers, with decades of combined experience across every style of fine jewelry, do the actual building — casting, stone setting, finishing — right here in the back of the store. And the Blumenthal family, now in its third generation running Corinne, stands behind every piece that goes out the door.

How custom design works at Corinne

Four steps, no surprises. You're in the loop from the first conversation to the final reveal.

Step 1 — Let's talk

We start with a relaxed conversation. What are you imagining? What inspired it? Bring photos, screenshots, sketches, a Pinterest board, or just an idea in your head — all of it helps. We'll talk style, stones, metal, budget, and timeline, and we'll work together until we have a clear picture of what we're building.

Step 2 — Bring it to life in CAD

Our designers turn the idea into a detailed CAD render — a high-resolution 3D model of the exact piece we're proposing to build, from every angle. You see it before any metal is cut. You can ask for changes, refinements, alternate stone arrangements, different prong styles, whatever. We don't move forward until the render is exactly what you want.

Step 3 — Cast, set, and finish

Once the design is locked in, our bench jewelers cast the piece in the precious metal of your choice — yellow, white, or rose gold; platinum — and set every stone by hand. We apply the finish you're after, whether that's a high polish, a brushed satin, a matte texture, or a vintage milgrain detail. Every step happens in-house, on our bench, with our jewelers.

Step 4 — The big reveal

This is the part we love. You come in, we hand you the finished piece, and you see it in person for the first time. Not just jewelry — a piece of your story, brought to life and built to wear for a lifetime.

Ready to start designing?

Tell us what you're imagining. We'll sit down with you, talk it through, and walk you through every step.

Keep the sentiment. Update the style.

Heirloom emerald and diamond piece restyled into a modern setting at Corinne Jewelers

A lot of what comes across our bench isn't a brand-new idea — it's a piece of jewelry that's been in the family for years. A ring from a grandmother. A pendant from a mother. Stones from an old engagement ring that no longer gets worn. The story is worth keeping. The style maybe isn't.

Heirloom redesign is one of the things we do best. We can lift stones from an old setting and reset them into something modern, melt down old gold to use in the new piece, or take three or four pieces you no longer wear and consolidate them into one you will. The sentiment stays. The piece becomes wearable again.

What we design

Custom work at Corinne covers every style of fine jewelry. A few of the most common projects:

  • Engagement rings — designed around your stone, or built from scratch with a stone you choose with us. Lab-grown or natural, halo or solitaire, vintage or modern.
  • Wedding bands — matching bands, contoured-to-fit bands, anniversary upgrades, men's bands in every style and metal
  • Heirloom redesign — restyling an old piece into something you'll actually wear
  • Pendants and necklaces — built around loose stones, family pieces, or a new idea entirely
  • Earrings — studs, drops, halos, designs built to complement a ring you already own
  • Anniversary and milestone pieces — commissions for big moments, often built around upgrade stones
  • Men's pieces — signet rings, custom bands, dog tags, pendants

What makes Corinne different

There are mall jewelers offering "custom" that's really just choosing from a catalog of pre-made settings. There are online sites that show you a render and ship you something three weeks later you can't see in person until it arrives. What we offer is different:

  • Real custom, in-house — your piece is designed, rendered, cast, set, and finished here, not boxed up and sent to a factory
  • CAD render before you commit — you see exactly what we're building, and you approve every detail, before any metal is cut
  • Three generations of expertise — our design team, our bench jewelers, and the Blumenthal family have been making custom pieces in Toms River since 1964
  • Going custom doesn't have to mean going over budget — we'll work with whatever you're comfortable spending and design something beautiful inside it
  • 1,367+ five-star Google reviews — custom-design customers leave the most enthusiastic reviews of all, and they're public for you to read

"Every piece has a story, a history, and a future."

Timeline and pricing

Most custom pieces take 4 to 8 weeks from first conversation to final reveal. Simpler pieces (a wedding band, a basic pendant) can move faster; intricate work with complex stone setting or hand engraving takes longer. We'll give you a real timeline at the consultation — and if you have a deadline (an engagement, an anniversary, a birthday), tell us up front so we can plan around it.

Pricing depends entirely on what we're making. Stones, metal weight, complexity of the setting, and finish all factor in. We'll quote every project in writing once we understand what you're after, and the number won't change after the fact. A meaningful deposit is collected when the design is approved and casting begins; the balance is due at pickup.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start a custom design project?

Send us a note below, give us a call at 732-244-4664, or come into the store. We'll set up a relaxed first conversation — no pressure, no commitment — to understand what you're thinking about and what's realistic. Bring photos, sketches, a Pinterest board, or just an idea. We'll take it from there.

How long does a custom piece take?

Most pieces take 4 to 8 weeks from first conversation to final reveal. Wedding bands and simpler pieces can move faster. Intricate work — complex stone setting, hand engraving, multi-stage finishes — takes longer. We'll give you a real timeline at the consultation, and if you have a hard deadline, tell us up front so we can plan around it.

Can you work with my heirloom diamond or family stones?

Yes — and we do this a lot. Bring in the piece (or just the loose stones). We'll evaluate the stones, talk through how to incorporate them, and design something that lets you keep what's meaningful about the family piece while turning it into something you'll actually wear. We can also melt down old gold to use in the new piece, which often offsets some of the cost.

How much does a custom piece cost?

It depends entirely on what we're making. Stones, metal weight, complexity of the setting, and finish all factor in. The honest answer is: we'll quote every project in writing once we understand what you're after, and the number won't change after the fact. Going custom doesn't have to mean going over budget — tell us what you're comfortable spending and we'll design something beautiful inside it.

Do I see the design before you build it?

Yes, every time. Our designers build a high-resolution CAD render — a 3D model of the exact piece we're proposing — and we walk you through it from every angle before any metal is cut. You can ask for changes, alternate stone arrangements, different prong styles, finish options. We don't move forward until the render is exactly what you want.

Can you copy a design I saw online or in another store?

We can absolutely take inspiration from something you've seen and design a piece around the elements you love. We won't make an exact replica of another designer's trademarked work — that's not legal and it's not who we are — but we can build something inspired by the look, customized to you, in a way that's genuinely yours.

What if I don't love it when I see the finished piece?

The CAD render step is designed to prevent exactly this — you approve the design before we build. In the rare case that something about the finished piece doesn't sit right at the reveal, we'll talk through it. If it's something we can adjust (finish, polish, a minor setting tweak), we'll fix it. We don't hand pieces back and walk away.

Do you offer financing on custom work?

Yes. We offer financing through Wells Fargo with several plan options — ask us at the consultation. Custom pieces typically work the same way: a deposit when the design is approved and casting begins, with the balance due at pickup, financed if you'd like.
