Valentine’s Day Done Right

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. What do you have planned? Netflix and chill? I don’t think so.

When it comes to the holiday of love, a little surprise is sexy, plus it shows her that you care! Well guys, we only have five days until the big day. If you have yet to plan your date, I’ve got you covered! See below for five fail-proof Valentine’s date ideas, complete with jewelry gift recommendations. It’s like a wine pairing, but better.

THE FIRST VALENTINE TOGETHER

So it’s your first Valentine’s Day as a couple, and you’re thinking, “let’s not outdo ourselves right away.”  You’re right … to an extent. Even so, it’s always nice to plan something! I mean, what if this find lady ends up being your wife?

Year one, simplicity is key. Here are some ideas:

  • A day date to the zoo, aquarium, or somewhere else you haven’t gone since elementary school. So cute and out of the box.
  • Grab some coffee and go window-shopping. It’s a great way to spend some QT with your girl, and get a little cardio in.
  • Make a home cooked meal together. It’s allowed to taste terrible as long as the dessert is a home run. Orrrr, maybe that’s my pregnancy talking.
  • Turn off the TV and break out the board games. Such a great opportunity to actually *GASP* talk to each other.

In summary, the date doesn’t have to be anything special as long as you give her something (your full attention included). Here are some gifts that are thoughtful, but still appropriate for year one …

THE HEART PUMPING VALENTINE

A little exercise has been known to get the endorphins going, so why not. To get her heart pumping take her for a scenic hike, take your bikes to Island Beach State Park, or maybe just do a couple of loops around the Manasquan Reservoir. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can’t get outside! After all, a brisk winter walk along the beach can do wonders for ones’ calves.

When in doubt, there’s always ice-skating! What a better excuse to step outside of your comfort zone, share a few laughs, and most importantly, hold hands. If you really want to impress her, surprise her with something beautiful as she sits on the bench to remove her skates. Either of these would do the trick …

Anchor_Earrings

Cross_Ring

Ti Sento Milano silver ring, available, $165

THE SEMI-SOCIAL VALENTINE

If you and your partner are social butterflies, there’s no reason why you can’t be out and about on Valentine’s Day. Have you ever attended a cooking class where you get to eat all of the delicious food afterwards? What about something more creative like drinking wine while you paint a masterpiece? These are great activities to mingle with strangers, or even better; recruit a few of your fave couples to join you.

If you really want to hit the town head on over to Dave & Busters for some games, or get a few friends together for a Valentine’s inspired bar crawl. Just be sure that amidst your social activities, you preserve some alone time with your love. After all, you’ll want an opportunity to give her this …

THE UBER ROMANTIC VALENTINE

Guilty as charged. While I don’t consider myself high maintenance, I would not complain if my Valentine’s date rated high on the romantic scale. If you too want your special day to come straight out of a Nicholas Sparks book, let me tell you … it’s all about atmosphere. Here are some things to shoot for …

  • A starlit dinner
  • An obscene amount of candles
  • Rose petals, everywhere
  • Something sentimental to show her you listen to her {sometimes}
  • Fireside cuddling, with a bottle of wine

On top of creating the perfect scene, the uber romantic Valentine’s Day is not complete without an amazing, sparkly gift. Just imagine the look on her face when she opens one of these beautiful pieces of bling …

If you are planning to pop the question this Valentine’s Day let me start by saying, “AWWWWW!” You can’t really beat that. Whether you’re planning to take her to dinner, or set up a romantic date at home, the most important part of your proposal is going to be the ring!

If you know exactly what she wants, you’re all set. The biggest challenge will be staying cool and collected until the main event. On the other hand, if she hasn’t given you any hints, Corinne Jewelers has your back. Stop by the store and we’ll help you find something just as unique as she is. I love the designs that Aspiri has been bringing to market …
